Richard Caulk is born in Maryland on this date and goes on to Bonhomme to become an important early settler. Part of his land later became the City of Chesterfield. He served in the Missouri Militia during the War of 1812 and later retired to his home with his wife, Sally, and their four daughters, according to a history on the city’s website. This photo shows Chesterfield’s Mertz Cabin, which is located in Faust Park and dates to the 1800s.
