Butler becomes the first city in Missouri–and west of the Mississippi River–to get electric power. Lights came on for the first time on this date, according an online history from the city. St. Louis followed as the No. 2 city in Missouri to benefit from electricity. This photo shows the Missouri Pacific Railroad Depot in Butler circa 1906.
