Provost Marshal’s Order Targets Bushwhackers In Hannibal: January 18, 1864

The Hannibal-based provost marshal publishes an order to “seize, arrest & bring to this office, or shoot down” bushwhackers and horse thieves disguised as Federal soldiers, according to a document in the State Historical Society of Missouri archives.
