Governor Lilburn Boggs delivers his every-other-year address to the Missouri legislature, reporting favorably that the state had notched a profit of $6,825, according to a Missouri Senate history. He also asked legislatures to approve additional prison space because the number of convicts serving time–46 as of his speech–had exceeded available solitary rooms.
