If you’re a fan of yard sales, you will love this annual 100 miles of shopping and dining on Highway 54 from Camdenton to Nevada on Friday and Saturday, September 2–3, Labor Day weekend. It begins at about 8 a.m., and the towns participating are Camdenton, Macks Creek, Preston, Hermitage, Wheatland, Weaubleau, Collins, El Dorado Springs, and Nevada, Missouri.
Martha Igo, a volunteer organizer from Wheatland, says there will be a great variety, from designer clothes to fishing tackle, and more. She recommends Gigi’s cafe with home cooking as one of the great places to dine, but there’s food all along the way. Watch for Our Kitchen Table on Highway 54 at Weaubleau, too. She says, “There are a lot of people selling, especially in Hickory County.”
Signs will direct you off Highway 54 for close-by yard sales, too. The participants are all competing for the best sign, and you can find more information and vote for your favorite sign here. Whatever sign gets the most likes will win the $100 prize.
If yard sales are your thing but not the whole family’s, Lucas Oil Speedway at Wheatland offers a full weekend of events, too, including national drag boat races as well as stock cars and modifieds.
