January 28: Alvah C. Williams of Hesterly Drug Store in Prescott, Ark., writes to the Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis sharing details of his pharmaceutical training and time in the military. He ended the letter: “Brother druggist, lets get together,” according to an archived copy of the letter at MissouriOverThere.org. The letter is from the collection of Dr. Henry Milton Whelpley (pictured), who served as dean of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy amid World War I. Many students left the college to fight in World War I.
