Missouri History Today October 10, 1937: Springfield’s Popular Ozark Empire Fair Kicks Off

The Greater Ozarks Empire District Free Fair opens near the Springfield Zoo. Attendees enjoyed exhibits of crafts and household items, and the event continues to this day. It’s now known  the Ozark Empire Fair, and admission is $15 per person onsite. This image shows an older portion of U.S. Route 66 located in Springfield.
